Sailplane - as an accent in the roundabout. This project required close work with authorities and other institutions to comply with road structures' safety requirements. It also needed creativity to be confirmed with calculations and reports, close collaboration preparing aircraft for usage as it wasn't designed originally.

This project was based on a request from Lithuanian town Prienai municipality to make a sailplane accent roundabout by the entrance to the city. The challenge was to convince authorities that this "statue" would be safe for the drivers. Therefore they needed extensive calculations and an explaining report. All information was gathered, analyses performed, a report prepared, and as a result, it was approved by authorities, and building permissions were given. In my scope of works was finding a sailplane, investigate required modifications for mounting on the base, and sealing against the weather. It all ended up perfectly, and since it was standing finished, a couple of storms tested computer calculations and simulations in real-life - confirming that all work was performed correctly.

Cad model of the roundabout and proposed solution
Steel structure requirements were set - only officially confirmed the size, generally used in road signs, was allowed to be used, increasing project complexity. The design was made and checked with computer-based calculations (FEA - finite element analysis) and tweaked to meet the required strength.
